How to clip Kick streams into Shorts and TikToks
How to clip Kick streams into Shorts and TikToks: clip and VOD download steps, expiry limits, credit maths and fixes for failed or private imports.
To clip a Kick stream into Shorts and TikToks, either create clips on Kick and download them, or send the VOD to an AI clipper that lists Kick as an input. The AI route needs more checking on Kick than on Twitch, because fewer vendors state support and one says plainly that it does not.

Which Kick route fits your footage
Choose the route by how much footage you have and whose channel it came from.
| Your situation | Use |
|---|---|
| One moment under 3 minutes, on a channel that allows clipping | Route 1: Kick’s clip tool |
| Your own multi-hour stream, and you want software to search it | Route 2: AI clipper with a Kick link |
| Your own stream, but the tool rejects Kick links | Download the VOD, then upload the file |
| Someone else’s stream, and you have not asked | Stop and read running a clip channel first |
Route 1: Clip on Kick and download
Kick’s built-in clip tool is enough for a single moment. According to its clip help article, as of 8 November 2026:
- Log in and open the live stream or VOD.
- Click the Clip icon or press C.
- In the Create clip window, drag the slider handles over the moment. Clips run from 10 to 180 seconds.
- Add a title and click Publish.
- Click Download for an .mp4, or copy the Clip Link.
The same article sets the limits. There is a 60-second cooldown between clips, you cannot clip if you are banned from that chat, all clips can be downloaded when viewed, and only the channel owner can delete a clip.
Kick’s clips are landscape as far as the article says, so a vertical version needs an editor. The article does not describe a portrait export.
Can you clip from a Kick VOD? Probably yes, but Kick’s help pages are not consistent. The clip article and the VODs article both say yes, and the clip article adds that sharing to chat is unavailable when clipping VODs. Its clip errors article says “You can usually only clip from a live stream, not from past content”. Try the VOD first, and if the icon is missing, fall back to Route 2 or the file route.
That errors article also says streamers can turn clipping off for their channel, which the main clip article does not mention.
Route 2: Send the VOD to an AI clipper
An AI clipper searches the whole stream for you, but check that it accepts Kick before paying. What vendors say, as of 8 November 2026:
| Tool | What the vendor states about Kick |
|---|---|
| OpusClip | Lists Kick as an import source and says links must be public or unlisted. Its Plans and credits article names Twitch under Pro but does not name Kick on any plan, so check which plan includes Kick before paying |
| Klap | Its how-it-works page lists Kick links, and says paid plans take videos up to 3 hours long |
| Cut.Pro | Its homepage says it supports Kick streams and live clipping, on every plan according to its FAQ |
| AutoClip | Its pricing page lists channel monitoring and Twitch and Kick streams on paid plans, and its Kick guide says new VODs from channels you add are clipped automatically |
| quso.ai | Its Twitch page says “Kick isn’t one of quso.ai’s import sources” |
Listing Kick as an input does not tell you how well a tool handles Kick footage. For the buying decision, see the best AI clipper for Kick streamers.
To get the link, open your channel page, select the Videos tab, open the replay and copy the address from your browser. Wait until the replay exists first. Kick’s missing VOD article suggests checking back in 15 to 30 minutes for shorter streams, or up to an hour for longer ones.
Check the replay’s visibility too. That article says VODs can be subscriber-only or hidden. Because OpusClip says private videos cannot be accessed, expect a restricted replay to fail on import until you make it public or upload the file instead.
Worked example: what a Kick stream costs in credits
A whole Kick stream can use a full month of credits, so select the sections you want before you submit. This is arithmetic from OpusClip’s published rule of one credit per imported minute, as of 8 November 2026. Plans listed there are Starter at 150 credits a month and Pro at 300 credits a month per pack.
| What you submit | Credits | Against Starter (150) | Against one Pro pack (300) |
|---|---|---|---|
| A whole 5-hour stream | 300 | 150 over | Uses all of it |
| The best 2 hours, using the Processing timeframe slider | 120 | 30 left | 180 left |
| Two 45-minute sections, submitted separately | 90 | 60 left | 210 left |
Partial minutes round down, so a 4.5-minute video counts as 4 credits. Other tools charge differently. AutoClip’s pricing page says stream VODs bill only top highlight segments plus 1 credit per 20 minutes of broadcast, typically 35 to 90 credits. That is the vendor’s estimate and we have not checked it. The cost per VOD hour page compares the billing models.
How to get your own VOD before it expires
If a tool does not accept a Kick link, you need the file. According to Kick’s VOD download article, as of 8 November 2026:
- Log in on the web. Mobile download is not available.
- Open the Creator Dashboard, then Studio and VODs, or go to dashboard.kick.com/studio/vods.
- Find the VOD and click Download.
- Choose the quality. The file saves through your browser.
You can only download VODs from your own channel. For another channel’s moment, Kick points to creating a clip. Some third-party guides still say Kick has no VOD download at all, so go by the current article. It also warns that long streams make large files, so check your free disk space first.
Do this before the replay expires. Kick’s published limits, as of 8 November 2026:
| Verified channels | Non-verified channels | |
|---|---|---|
| Replays kept for | Up to 30 days | 7 days |
| Replays on the channel at once | 30 | 16 |
| Pinned VODs, kept for good | Up to 5 (Partner and Verified) | Not available |
Kick says an auto-deleted VOD cannot be recovered, and that you can only pin a VOD before it expires. Its article does not say which replay leaves first when you reach the cap. A verified channel streaming twice a day would reach 30 replays in 15 days, so download anything you still need well before then.
Once you have the file, most tools accept an upload, but file-size caps differ. Vendors also disagree with themselves on some of these figures, so check the upload screen. Our long VOD shortlist records what each one documents.
Troubleshooting Kick clips and imports
Most Kick failures come down to timing, visibility or a channel setting. These fixes come from the Kick and OpusClip help pages linked on this page.
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Clip button missing or greyed out | Clipping is off on the channel, you are logged out, or the stream only just started | Log in, wait briefly, refresh or restart the app |
| Cannot make a second clip | 60-second cooldown | Wait a minute and retry |
| Clip has not appeared | Clips can take a few minutes to process | Refresh, check your clip library and confirm the account |
| Clip caught the wrong moment | You may be behind the live stream | Refresh and clip again, or trim it afterwards |
| VOD ends partway through | A disconnect can split a stream into several VODs | Look for more VODs from the same date, and import each |
| VOD download failed | Not covered by Kick’s help pages we read | Refresh and retry, then contact Kick support |
| Tool cannot read the link | Replay is restricted or still processing | Make it public, wait, or upload the file |
| OpusClip upload is rejected | Its upload page says non-integer frame rates are not supported | Follow its workaround: upload to YouTube and import that link |
| OpusClip finds too few words | Under 30 words on its ClipBasic model, per its failure article | Switch to ClipAnything. Credits for failed projects are returned |
Turning the clip into a Short
After you have a clip, the steps match any other vertical workflow. Crop to 9:16 using the facecam and gameplay layout guide, add captions, check the safe zones and post. The originality and length points in Twitch clips to TikTok and Shorts apply equally to Kick footage.
Length needs one extra decision on Kick, because its clips can reach 180 seconds. That fits YouTube’s 3-minute Shorts limit, but YouTube blocks any Short over one minute with an active copyright claim. If music was playing, cut the clip to under a minute or read music and DMCA in gaming clips.
Plan to watch every AI suggestion before posting, because no vendor listed above publishes how often its picks work on Kick footage. The batch workflow shows how to budget that review time.
If you clip other people’s streams, Kick’s rules on clipping and deleting clips give the channel owner the final say, and a Download button is not permission to repost. Read running a clip channel first.
