Free clipper and VOD planning tools
Free calculators and helpers you can use in the browser.
This section collects planning tools for streamers who clip VODs: a cost calculator, a clipper picker and a safe-zone overlay for vertical video. Each page sets out what the tool computes or checks, the rules behind it and its limits, so you can follow it by hand from the page text.

What each tool is for
VOD cost calculator. It turns two numbers, hours per stream and streams per week, into the credits, clips or length-cap checks each tool’s published billing rule implies, for OpusClip, Vizard, quso.ai, Klap, Submagic and Streamlabs Ultra. StreamLadder appears with its flat plan prices, and Eklipse with prices only, because its billing unit is not published on the pages read. The page also gives the method, a worked example and its limits. It is arithmetic from published prices, not a measure of how many clips any tool produces. Use it when you are deciding whether a plan covers your schedule. The worked reasoning is also on cost per VOD hour.
Clipper picker. It narrows tools by your answers, using a five-question decision guide you can follow by hand (where your VODs live, VOD length, gameplay-led or talk-led content, budget, and captions and layout). It works from documented facts like import sources and length caps, not from measured quality, since no tool has been run on gaming footage yet. The best AI clip maker page covers the same ground in prose.
Shorts and TikTok safe zone overlay. It is for planning where to place a facecam, captions and key game elements on a vertical frame so that platform interface elements do not cover them. The page lists safe-zone figures for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts on a 1080 x 1920 frame, relayed from one third-party checker page that derives them from ad guidance (not our measurements), explains the killfeed and HUD risk, so you can check your own frame against those margins. The facecam plus gameplay layout workflow gives the frame maths for a manual layout.
How to choose a tool
- Money question: the calculator, with pricing as the background.
- Which product: the picker, then the best-of pages and reviews.
- Layout question: the overlay, with the workflows.
What the tools do not do
They do not predict clip quality, rank tools by results or replace a trial on your own footage. The assumptions inside each calculator are shown on the page so that you can check them. Where a vendor figure is missing or conflicting, the tool says it is unknown instead of showing a number.
Guides to evaluating clippers yourself are in the tests section, and the methodology page explains how pages are made. VodClipsLab has run no tests.
